Everyday Woman, Everyday Fierce- LaPortia Sims

Laportia Sims Assistant Director of Admissions  Argosy University Nashville, TN On a daily basis, I apply make-up to enhance my facial features, not cover them up. Making up your face should be viewed as an additional outfit, a person should always dress it up and never leave it bare/naked. I enjoy wearing neutral colors that matches all outfits. Since my eyes are my most distinctive feature my primary focus goes towards my brows.  My top three make-up items used daily: MAC concealer MAC brown eyeliner pencil Sephora Smashbox Full Coverage Foundation

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. Why It doesn’t Fit Me.

Maybelline describes its Fit Me foundation as being "FLAWLESS LETS THE REAL YOU COME THROUGH BEYOND MATCHING: FRESH BREATHING NATURAL SKIN" Here we go with another cosmetic company shouting from the roof tops that they have a foundation line that will match your skin tone. Now we all know, and if you didn't let me share this with you, no one  is strictly one complexion/shade all over their face, Women of color tend to be lighter in T zone and darker around the outer edges of their face. Honestly, I don't like to knock products until I try them and since I was in the market for a budgenista friendly foundation I decided to give them a try, $7.99 @ CVS. 356

Nails of the Week Featuring China Glaze Metallic Crackle

Nails of the Week Featuring China Glaze Metallic Crackle

I change my nail color pretty often. With all the wonderful shades available I can't help but want to try them all. The other day I had a colleague say to me "weren't your nails green the yesterday". I laughed and I appreciated the fact that he noticed. With China Glaze launching their new Metallic Crackle Polish collection I headed to Sally's to grab a couple *Beauty Budgenista Tip* (FYI Sally's is cheaper then Ulta, pay $5.00 for the Sally's membership and save $1.00 off each of your nail polishes!). I also picked up a couple of other colors that I couldn't resist while I was there. These are the nail designs I rocked last week. 315

The Style and Beauty Doctor Host “Tweet Your Face Off” Featuring Sleek Makeup!

Last night I had the opportunity to attend a "Tweet Your Face Off" event hosted by Danielle aka StylenBeautyDoc and Nasilele Photography Studio in Brooklyn New York. This event was a chance for beauty enthusiast, novice to pro, who all network on twitter to come together and do with they do best, tweet their faces off!  The event featured an area where you could have your photo professionally taken, get your lips made up by Danielle- The Style and Beauty Doctor herself at the lip bar, along with the mingling, networking and enjoying of appetizers. The lip bar gave attendee's to try out products from Sleek Makeup! These colors were gorgeous and I will definitely be adding them to my collection! 275

Look of the Day

Yesterday I featured MAC's new Semi Precious duo Fibre Brushes along with three of their eyeshadows. I was very eager to try out the eyeshadows and the brushes so this morning I created I a look using these items. I must say I really like the brushes, placement of the shadow on my lids was easy and due to the width of the 235 brush I was able to press the shadow on easily without fall out. While I don't think they are a must have, I don't regret having them in my collection Items Used FACE MAC PREP & PRIME SKIN BASE VISAGE NC42 SELECT COVER UP MAC NC45 PRO LONGWEAR SPF10 FOUNDATION MAC NC45 STUDIO FINISH CONCELEAR REVELON COLORSTAY MINERAL FINISHING POWDER- SUNKISS MAC BLUSH- FORMAT EYES NYX EYE SHADOW BASE SKIN TONE MAC MINERALIZE EYESHADOWS- BLUE SHEEN, SMOKED RUBY, GOLDEN GLAZE SEPHORA WATERPROOF EYE PENCIL- KEEP BLACK…
MAC Semi Precious Collection Brushes and Shadows

MAC Semi Precious Collection Brushes and Shadows

The MAC Cosmetics Semi Precious Collection is set to launch in stores on July 7th, 2011. While I'd seen items from the collection swatched on other blog sites I was disappointed to see that the beautiful shades were not giving the color payoff as their pressed counterparts showed. Even though that was a huge let down I was still interested in trying the new Duo Fibre Brushes with Goat and Synthetic Hair. The Goat hair is great for powder applications and the synthetic hair is better for liquid based products, kind of like giving you the best of both worlds in one brush. I also picked up 3 of eyeshadows from the collection that really stood out to me. 193
