MAC Semi Precious Collection Brushes and Shadows

The MAC Cosmetics Semi Precious Collection is set to launch in stores on July 7th, 2011. While I’d seen items from the collection swatched on other blog sites I was disappointed to see that the beautiful shades were not giving the color payoff as their pressed counterparts showed. Even though that was a huge let down I was still interested in trying the new Duo Fibre Brushes with Goat and Synthetic Hair. The Goat hair is great for powder applications and the synthetic hair is better for liquid based products, kind of like giving you the best of both worlds in one brush. I also picked up 3 of eyeshadows from the collection that really stood out to me.

I must admit the brushes are very eye catching and seemed pretty sturdy. I put them to my “brush test” and they all passed. I am eager to put them to the real test and see how they respond to different textures. One good thing about these brushes is that they solve the dilemma of having to switch brushes so many times when creating an eye look. You can go from creamy to powder all with using the same brush.

I chose to purchase 3 of the mineralize eyeshadows based on how well I thought they were able to really portray what was seen in the pot. On first look the eyeshadows are beautiful and a camera can not catch how the different shades blended throughout reflect the light.

Blue Sheen comes off as a darker shade of blue with small flecks of gold seen throughout.

Smoked Ruby which shows as a beautiful red/maroon and black comes off on the skin looking very bronze.

Last but not least Golden Glaze comes off as what I would like to call and “old gold” type color. I am reminded of “Vintage Gold” Pigment with flecks of brown throughout

I can’t wait to try out my brushes tomorrow and see how they really work!

Hmmmmm, looks a lot like the Milani marbled shadows I already have:) I think I may have to pass on these. The pictures of the brushes aren’t loading. Looking forward to seeing those though.
