Liquid eyeliners and I have a love hate relationship. I love the precision and how they can make you look like an expert on putting on eyeliner with little to no work, but I hate how I can’t have my morning cup of coffee before applying my makeup, I know I know, #firstworldproblems.
Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eyeliners* come in seven different colors and I got my hands on Curacao. Curacao is everything in a hand basket with a bow and a chocolate bunny on the side *two snaps*! I must admit at first I was skeptical. Usually colored glitter eyeliners give you all the glitter, but fall flat and just plain ol leave out the color. I was really surprised to find that the Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eyeliners didn’t fall into this category. The color of Curacao can be described as a indigo-navyish type color. Of course the exact color is going to depend on your skin tone and the lighter you are the more vibrant the color is going to be. For me it came off as a lighter version of royal blue. The packaging is straight forward which is good by no means do we want something bulky to hold when when we are working close the the eye. The brush is also a good length which gives you room to maneuver around and leaves less room for making mistakes.
When I first tried this eyeliner (sans coffee) I was pleased with how easy it was to apply. The formula was not streaky so I did not need to keep dipping the brush back into the tube to line my eye. I decided to only go with lining the top lash line and applying a regular black Eye Khol to the water line.
As you can see in the picture below the while the color is there however you just don’t get the wow factor as seen on the brush. Honestly, it was kinda of “blah”. I wanted it to be noticeable and for people to say “Wow look at your eyeliner!!!” instead of “oh, blue eyeliner..” This of course has a lot do to with my skin tone. Again, with less pigmentation you are going get a better color payoff. I am not one to give up on a product immediately and I didn’t want to throw this into the “just another eyeliner” pile.
I decided the next day I would give it a try over a white base to see if the color would really stand out. This time I used MAC Cosmetics White Eye Khol in Fascinating as my base and then applied Stila’s Curacao.
Can we say AMAZING!! On a women with my skin tone this is just what I needed to make this product stand out and live up to it’s name! I took several shots to show you guys the color pay off. If you’ve been looking for a great blue eyeliner look no further. This one is definitely going into my must have collection. While I wish I didn’t have to doctor it up to get the color pay off, a little help has never hurt anybody!
Have you tried any of the Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eyeliners? What do you think of them and which colors are your must have?
