Brahmin Tent Sale Spring 2013 Haul

Yes!! I did it again! I drove a total of 16hours (roundtrip) so that I could attend the Brahmin Semi-Annual Tent Sale!! This time I went on the first day to see if I could snatch up some better options as opposed to going on day 2. I walked away with some awesome finds. The Brahmin Tent Sale happens twice a year, usually mid may and early to mid September. Items are marked up to 65% off with an additional 25% off if you buy 6 or more bags.

Ok before everyone starts shrugging their shoulders and scrolling through this post. Yes I am talking about the infamous Ruby Woo by MAC!! Of course being obsessed with makeup, youtube and blogging I am a proud owner of Ruby Woo! My relationship with Ms. Woo had always been an acquaintance status. Lol I have seen her everywhere from the pics to videos. So its like I know of her. However, we had never met. Well, not until she was gifted to me! The shock and joy that I got when I read the label on that box!! OMG!! I was like finally I get to see what she is all about. Well from the moment I popped the cap of the black case I was hypnotized!! Her color and texture is like none other!! I can finally say I believe and understand the hype!! I think Ms. Woo and I will become besties in the red lippie family!!

The Makeup Show New York was full of new surprises. One of the most exciting unveilings was the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Stained Gloss. If your a fan of Lip Tars but want something a little less committing you’ll love the new stained glosses! Stained glosses provide the same high impact color of a Lip Tar but give you a high glossy sheen that dries to a beautiful stain on the lips.

I have three of the of the six colors to share with you today and I absolutely adore them!

Please note that these picture were taken after the Stained Gloss started to dry to it’s high impact stain finish

New Wave: A glossy neon pink that stained my lips a bright pink. This color was exceptionally brighter then what I have pictured below.

Jealous: This color called out to me when I saw it on display at The Makeup Show. Jealous is a described as a popsicle pink red but in the tube it looks more like a high impact coral.

Rhythm Box: Don’t be afraid of this color. In the tube it looks like a deep reddish berry shade. It is described by OCC as a translucent purple burgundy.

Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a nice color to put on your lips without the worry your hair getting stuck in your lipgloss then this is the product for you. Remember it doesn’t stay glossy the entire time it’s own but dries down a highly pigmented stain within 1-2 hours of applying. If you want to add some extra umph. I tried out pairing the Lip Tar Hoochie with the Stained Gloss Rhythm Box and the color combination was gorgeous.

The Yellow Brick Road to Solange Knowles

While swatching the new Zoya Summer Pixie Dust collection I realized that the bright yellow polish was appropriately named Solange. I’ve always been a huge fan of Solange Knowles so it was easy for me to make the connection between Solange, the polish, being yellow and yellow being her favorite color to wear.

Solange Knowles embraces the term individuality. She takes bold bright prints and colors and wears them without regrets or concerns for other thoughts or opinions. This is one the main things I love about her.

Zoya Pixie Dust for Summer Swatches

So when Zoya first sent these lovely gorgeous melt in your mouth polishes over for me to review I couldn’t because I had some major nubbage going on. After what felt like a century my nubbs have finally grown long enough for me to give you guys some pretty good swatches of the new Zoya Pixie Dust for the coming Summer. Let me just say if you fell in love with the first release of Zoya’s Pixie Dust line you are going to be WITH CHILD over these babies!

The textured nail trend has been seen everywhere but I can honestly say that Zoya was the only one to get it absolutely right. Giving a Nail Polish God fearing hoarder everything she needs all wrapped up in one simple formula. The Zoya Pixie Dust Summer Collection features six brand new colors, the only color that I would have loved to see was a brighter green.

For this collection I applied three coats. I allowed at least 2 minutes in between each coat to give the polish enough time to dry so that the following layer would stick and coat better. Zoya Destiny might have just stolen my heart with Zoya Liberty and Miranda followed closely behind. Set your eyes a glow with Avon Glimmersticks!

I think when you try a new cosmetic brand, there is normally a stable item that you try first. One of my first ever Avon Makeup products were the Glimmersticks! I remember working in an Avon store and seeing these skinny retractable pencils fly off the shelf. After selling what had seemed like a hundred a day. I had to check them out for myself. It just took one swatch on the back of my hand and I was in love!!

The formula is beyond creamy and the colors are true to life. There are many finishes such as diamonds, metallic, satin and glitter. Oh and believe when I say, if the description says a glitter effect that’s excatly what you get. So you would think that with a creamy texture that they would fade or disappear. Well you dont’ have to worry with these babies. They will be cemented to your waterline or lash line. They truly stay locked on for hours!!!

For this post I decided to share with you all some my favorite shades in my personal collection.
