Is the Wet Wrap Fashionable Enough to be Worn in Public?

Is the Wet Wrap Fashionable Enough to be Worn in Public?

I opened my email today and I was completely shocked.. no floored to find that the Wet Wrap is considered to be fashionable enough to wear down the runway. I remember many times getting my hair wrapped and then tying it up so that I could unwrap it in the morning. I also remember "ghetto" women walking around with their hair wrapped as if it were a style. Have these women been redeemed? Were they merely 15 years ahead of their time? Apparently so.... To my surprise the Wet Wrap has graced the stage at NYFW in the LOUISE GOLDIN SPRING/SUMMER 2014 COLLECTION show.  Products used were from the Rene Furterer line of high performing styling products.  Anthony Turner of Art Partner designed an extreme futuristic hair look for the highly anticipated Louise Goldin Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The look starts with sectioning off a length of hair with a rattail comb at…
Mario Badescu and the Ultimate Skin Care Regimen

Mario Badescu and the Ultimate Skin Care Regimen

The perfect skin care regimen is often hard to find. I've tried several products to try and help me combat my oily skin, black heads and occasional breakouts but I never found a regimen that could give me everything that I needed. A couple of months ago I was introduced to the Mario Badescu skin care line and after speaking with a consultant I received an entire regimen of skin care products that would suit all my needs. There were six products in the regimen and I also received a personalized pamphlet that told me when and how to use each product.  There was a morning regimen and an evening regimen. Since skincare isn't something you can review in a week I really took my time and go to know each product. As you can see from the picture below you may be able to tell that I kept…

Turn Your Old Clothes into Something New!

Why it is So Easy to Sell Your Clothes for Cash If you have a wardrobe full of old clothes, you may be sitting on a fortune. In the past, old clothes did not have very much value. Very few people wanted to buy second hand clothes and if they did, they generally went to charity shops to do so. Up until fairly recently, there was some social stigma to wearing second hand clothes and very few people would admit that their wardrobe contained items they had been previously worn by someone else. These days, much of the social stigma has been lifted and today people from all walks of life buy and wear used clothes. Why second hand clothes are so popular There are several reasons why this has happened. The recession has a lot to do with it. More and more people are finding it difficult…

Makeup Forever Foundation Nation Campaign

Makeup Forever Foundation Nation Campaign

MAKE UP FOR EVER, the Paris based professional makeup brand coveted by top industry artists, is launching Foundation Nation, a campaign to help women everywhere address the most common foundation makeup challenges. With more and more foundation choices becoming available it is not uncommon for women to become intimated or end up walking out with the wrong foundation color.  With the help of the NPD group, MAKEUP FOREVER recently conducted a study to get more information on how women really felt about foundation. I've often seen women walking around with foundation that is either a couple of shades too dark or a way to light for their complexion. MAKE UP FOR EVER’s study* revealed that 73 percent of women say it’s challenging to find the right foundation. The #1 challenge associated with foundation itself is finding the right shade, according to 54 percent of women polled. It also found that…
Slim Pickings for Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty

Slim Pickings for Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty

It's time for Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty!!  I received my magazine in the mail yesterday and I quickly scanned through to see which days had some of the best deals. The thing with Ulta is while they usually always have a coupon for $3.50 off of $10 ore more and sometimes 20% off they rarely offer deals on what they consider to be their "prestige" cosmetics. Prestige Cosmetics would include brands like Urban Decay, Too Faced, Tarte, Butter London etc. Basically the main items we go in the store to get we can't even get a discount on. The 21 days of Beauty is probably the only time you can snag great deals on these brands at Ulta. Ulta's Fall 21 Days of Beauty is set to start September 8th-September 28th. Each day will feature a different deal with a specific brand. Sometimes they even have brand reps…
Makeup Wars My favorite Oil

Makeup Wars My favorite Oil

I was introduced to the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil in the summer of 2012 at a beauty event. I have been a user and a lover ever since. With the name Deep Cleaning oil , you probably wonder how a oil can work as a makeup remover. Finally, I get a chance to use my Phd.. or well basic science skills to school you. Oils are phospholipids, made up of a hydrophilic head and a hydrophobic tail. We all know that oil and water don't mix and when they do you often see the oil start to form a clique and only want to be around itself. What's happening here is the hydrophillic heads are coming together in a formation called a Micelle.  The dirt and or makeup is trapped within the micelle and washed away. While there are several other technical terms I could have used like "polar"…
Ixora Sinfully Smooth Chocolate Souffle

Ixora Sinfully Smooth Chocolate Souffle

I've always heard people talk about the Ixora line of skin care but I never stepped up to drink the kool-aid. Luckily enough I was able to try out one of the products from the line and I must say I am now a cult card carrying member! The Sinfully Smooth Chocolate Souffle is amazing mixture of goodness in a jar. When I first received this product for review I wanted to take my time and compare it to other body butters that I owned. Since we've been living in the hot humid days of summer I am basically trying to find a butter that is good enough to moisturize my skin, tackle my stubborn dry spots and not leave me looking like I've just baby oiled my legs for an interview with Andy Cohen. The Breakdown: This is your basic Cocoa Butter with some added help.  Extra Virgin Olive…
Lust of the Week: Tory Burch Robinson Satchel

Lust of the Week: Tory Burch Robinson Satchel

As if I don't already have enough handbags... but how can I pass up one more. I'm seriously trying to diversify my handbag collection, you know kind of like stock. I have all my eggs in the Brahmin basket with a little bit of Kate Spade and Vince Camuto so this week I'm lusting for the Tory Burch Robinson Dome Satchel! This bag just screams "I've got my shizz together" even if I don't.. honestly I don't, but at least I can look like I do when I carry this bag. What I really like about the Dome Satchel is that is has a minimalist structure with just the two small handles and would work great dressed down with jeans and boots or pair a business suit with the patchwork design. It's important that while this bag is large you don't over load it with tons of stuff, those two…
Top Ten Beauty Finds Under $10

Top Ten Beauty Finds Under $10

Beauty on a Budget.. I am so serious about this. Ever since drug store brands started really reinventing their makeup collections I tend to stay in the drug store beauty aisles rather than shop a makeup counter. For today's Top Ten Tuesday myself and several other bloggers put together list of of our Top Ten $10 and under beauty products. Check out the list and see if any of your favorites secured a spot.   1. Stila Travel Palettes: This is a great way to carry your makeup with you on the go. A cute travel palette with color coordinated eyeshadow and blushes. 2. Maybelline The Rocket! This stuff is almost as good as the department store counter Mascara! Check out my review here! 5. Wet N Wild Perfect Pout Lip Color is just whoa! Great pigment, very moisturizing and easy on the budget. There are also tons of…
3.1 Phillip Lim for Target HandBags

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target HandBags

So since I've been shopping at the online retailer Shopbop I've stumbled upon a fabulous brand called 3.1 Phillip Lim. Yea Yea I'm way late but I've just honestly started venturing out into other handbags besides Brahmin.  Phillip Lim has some amazing handbags at Nordstroms.com like the ones shown here.  While these bags are to die for they are also well above my budget. I mean right now I can't see paying $1095-1200 for a handbag. My husband would do more than kill me! While he might kill me for paying $1K for a handbag he won't kill me if I get a replica of the handbag shown above, by the same designer for only 5% of the cost of the original. Phillip Lim for Target is set to be out in Target Stores and online September 15th. Luckily for me there is a Target right up the road from my…
Let Your Old Entertainment Pay Your Way into the Fall Fashion Latest

Let Your Old Entertainment Pay Your Way into the Fall Fashion Latest

Out with the old and in with the new. It's an old saying that we hear time and time again, but have you ever really made that saying work for you? Let's, be honest when it comes to beauty and fashion most of us are pack rats.  Or, we'll hang on to something because it has some sort of minuscule sentimental value like I can't throw this away because "I wore this outfit when the cute guy winked at me" or "I saved this wrapper because I ate the candy just when I got the call for a new job".. okay maybe that's reaching a little, but with fall right around the corner and summer jobs ending there has to be a quick easy way to make Fall Fashion and Beauty cash without having to work long tiring hours. The other day I was cleaning out my entertainment center…
Lust of the Week! Indique Bounce Organic Curl Hair Extensions

Lust of the Week! Indique Bounce Organic Curl Hair Extensions

As you saw in my last post I'm in the middle of not knowing exactly what the hell to do with my hair. I was natural for 3 years, then got a relaxer because I really wanted to just keep it straight and workout without the hassle of flat ironing on a daily basis. I've not had a relaxer in 3 months for several reasons, I was kidding myself when I thought I wouldn't have to flat iron as much. I was perviously wearing the Indique Pure Wavy Fishnet Clip in and after taking it out to let my hair rest I just decided not to get another relaxer and save some money. Since I'm still undecided on exactly what I want to do with my hair I've decided that I will be doing another install with Indique's Bounce Organic Curl hair.  In my head I've already come up with several…
Top Ten Tuesdays: Must Have Gold Beauty Products!

Top Ten Tuesdays: Must Have Gold Beauty Products!

Everyone women owns some type of gold wether it be yellow, rose, white or even real, or faux. I'm not big on yellow gold jewelry though I do have a couple of select vintage pieces. Most  of the gold I own can be found throughout my beauty collection which is why for this weeks Top Ten trend I've decided to do share with you my favorite GOLD beauty products!. 1. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Liptar in Triptych: This is a true 24K metallic gold. Remember a little goes a long way when wearing this amazing product. What's cool about the liptars is that you can create great ombre looks with them. 2. MAC Old Gold Pigment: MAC Old Pigment is a staple in any pigment collection. This isn't a bright vibrant gold but goes on a bit more muted with a green undertone. This pigment is great for fall! 3.…
To Relax or Transition? My Carols Daughter Transition 1-2-3 Kit Review

To Relax or Transition? My Carols Daughter Transition 1-2-3 Kit Review

I was natural for 3 years and I exclusively wore my hair curly until I decided to get the Keratin Smoothing Treatment. I fell in love with how easy it was to wear my hair straight and how manageable it was, that is until my roots started to grow back. I didn't want to get another Keratin treatment since it did cause a lot of drying issues with my hair so I was torn on what to do. I ultimately decided to just relax my hair. Since I was working out so much and constantly fighting my roots I honestly felt that a relaxer was the best for me at the time. Fast forward 5 months later and now I'm contemplating a re transition. Before After Keratin Smoothing Treatment   To be honest I absolutely miss my bright reddish orange curly hair. However, I do realize that my hair color…
Lust of the Week: Marc Jacobs Honey Perfume

Lust of the Week: Marc Jacobs Honey Perfume

Marc Jacobs Honey is the newest edition to the Marc Jacobs line of fragrances. I own both the original Daisy and Lola. Daisy I've fallen out of love with and it seems that all the variations of Daisy that have been released over time really don't do it for me either. While in Sephora I had the opportunity smell Honey and I was actually stunned at how good it smelled. It smelled so good I even went back to smell it again just to make sure my nose wasn't playing tricks on me. Notes: Pear, Juicy Mandarin, Orange Blossom, Peach Nectar, Apricot, Honeysuckle, Honey, Golden Vanilla, Smooth Woods. This perfume has all the notes that I love and would be the perfect go to fragrance for next summer. Right now it retails $52 for a 1.0oz $72 for a 1.7oz and $92 for a 3.4oz. Since summer is almost…
Maybelline New York Limited Edition Purple Lipsticks for Fall 2013

Maybelline New York Limited Edition Purple Lipsticks for Fall 2013

Fall is right around the corner and one of the first drug store brands to release their fall collection is Maybelline. According to Maybelline this Fall collection is not supposed to be released until September but Harmons, also known as the Bed Bath and Beyond beauty section, slipped up and put out the entire line early. Of course I already had my sights set on the purple lipsticks. Jewel toned colors are going to be huge this fall as we've seen already with the new Zoya Cashmere polishes. Shoutout to one of my instagram followers who clued me in on these even coming out. I snapped up all three purple lipsticks (there is one pink). Each lipstick retails for $5.49 but with my BB&B coupons i was able to get 20% off. They come in the same tubing as the vivids but purple. First impression of the lipsticks it…

My Secret Weapon for Staying Fresh on the Go!

There's a heat wave going on, and let's be honest, when you're a city girl like me you can't help but venture out into the sweltering sun to walk to your next destination. So ladies, let's be honest, with all the heat and humidity do you ever stop and wonder if you're still "fresh"? Yeah you can do a quick pit check while no one is noticing, then run to the bathroom and freshen up, but what about taking care of the rest of your body?  I have a secret supply of fresheners that I keep tucked away in my makeup bag, book bag gym bag, and several purses for those freshen up moments. I keep this product handy so that it's always at my disposal when I want to make sure I'm at my freshest. Summer's Eve cleansing cloths are my secret pick-me-up for when I'm on the go. They are…
Makeup Wars Favorite Color: Coral!

Makeup Wars Favorite Color: Coral!

This week for Makeup Wars we're doing favorite colors! Coral is my absolute favorite color. I love it in all its glorious tones pinky coral, orangy coral, peachy coral and even coral coral. I think that coral looks great with my on brown skin tones. Especially if paired with a bronzer. It really gives women of color the look of "rosy cheeks" or a slight hint of a blush.I have many awesome coral fashion finds that I love to mix and math, but since this is Makeup Wars I'll share some of my favorite Coral  Makeup. Now to be honest I usually only do Coral Makeup from the cheeks down. I don't have too many coral colored eyeshadows ,but I honestly need to change that judging by how good the color looks overall on my skin. Check out some of the images below and let me know what you thnk.…
Jane Iredale Summer Beauty Review and Give Away

Jane Iredale Summer Beauty Review and Give Away

Jane Iredale sent over some amazing items for the summer for review. I am a bit late on getting these to you all due to finishing my qualifier and writing a grant but here they are. I mean there is a whole month of summer left so I'm not that late! First up is Jane Iredale's Tantasia. It's a moisturizing natural bronzer and self tanner for the face and body. I couldn't use this product since I'm already naturally tanned, but if you're interested in how it works check out my friends review over at BeautyJudy.com. This product retails for $36. Next up is one of the coolest items ever. The Powder me SPf sunscreen is basically a mineralized powder that acts as a sunscreen also. It offers UVB/UVA SPF 30 protection. What's even better is the packaging. Usually mineral powder comes in a jar with a sponge that has a…
