The Beauty of Nature

The Beauty of Nature

This year I took on a lot of responsibilities. Between being a PhD student, wife, blogger, and trying to make my home look like the cover of a HGTV magazine I sometimes burn myself out.  After feeling a lot of things get piled on my shoulder I learned that it was okay to say "No" and that good leaders know how to delegate as opposed to taking on a project all by themselves. Sometimes when I'm stressed I like to just sit outside and enjoy the beauty of nature. One of my dreams is to have a beautiful cottage garden filled with colorful foliage and flowers. I want to create the perfect peaceful place where I can go and sit and just enjoy the beauty of the world. Perennials in my yard are slowly starting to blossom and so I've been snapping pictures like crazy so that I…

Give Your Man a Fashion Boost in the EastDane.com Give Away! 4-Winners!!

This giveaway is sponsored by EastDane.com.  The men in our lives will never admit to their friends that we dress them, but truth be told when it comes to putting together the perfect outfit some men just don't have a clue! Mr. Cosmetically Challenged actually isn't too bad in the fashion department but I always have my eye out for something nice I'd like to see him in when were out shopping. I've told you a lot about Shopbop.com, its the #1 go to site for all things fashion. Not to long ago they launched their Brother Site East Dane. East Dane is  a thoughtful, straightforward approach to men’s fashion.  This site is definitely for men who are more into style then they are into trends, and I'm a firm believer in being an individual and not following fashion trends.  Here you'll find brands like Jack Spade (Kate Spades brother), Ben Minkoff…
I am Leo hear me Roar! OOTD

I am Leo hear me Roar! OOTD

Spring is here and I'm still on my fashion no buy, actually I'm on an everything no buy. I need to drop another 20lbs before I even consider buying new clothes. Since I can't indulge in a little retail therapy I decided to dig in and shop my closet. Can you believe I actually pulled out items with the tags still on them? Instead of doing my OOTD post in front of my house I talked my husband into driving down by the river to take a couple of shots. We discovered a hidden dog park while we were there and I can't wait to take my loves Jujubee and Jada there next week. This week I decided to dress up a everyday skirt with a dressy top. I loved how the two came together and made the perfect afternoon outfit. While looking for shoes in the closet I even…
Would you Literally Brown Bag it? Marie Turnor Feast Clutch

Would you Literally Brown Bag it? Marie Turnor Feast Clutch

I remember the days of younger when I would bring a brown paper bag lunch to school. It would include my juice box, a sandwich and a bag of my favorite chips. I think in those days I was loving Nacho Cheese Doritos and life was just easy. Now that I'm a grownup with grownup responsibilities I'm wondering if I can really make the Brown Paper Bag chic all over again. The Marie Turnor Feast Clutch $330 has a minimalist appeal. The rolled line top has a invisible magnetic closure and it's large enough to fit all your necessities and a little more.  I wouldn't wear this with jeans per say but I would definitely pair it with something more dressy for the ultimate contrast. What do you think about the Feast Clutch? Love it or Leave it?
Comfort and Style from Across the Pond with Superga Sneakers

Comfort and Style from Across the Pond with Superga Sneakers

This year I've been making a conscious effort to introduce my closet to new brands and different styles. Sometimes you get so comfortable with a certain brand that you forget there are others out there that can offer an amazing fit with a great price. For the past two years Keds have been my go to sneaker to wear during the hotter months in the lab. This year I decided to take a look across the pond and give Superga, the Peoples Shoes of Italy, a try. The Superga brand of shoes caught my eye while window shopping on my favorite site. Shopbop.com.  What drew me to the shoes were the different styles, colors and of course the price! Keds can run about $45-$75 for a cute pair but I usually run into the same problem regardless of style. They just aren't that comfortable, forcing me to purchase insoles. Superga…
Quick Tips for Choosing the Perfect Nude Polish for Spring feat. Zoya Naturels.

Quick Tips for Choosing the Perfect Nude Polish for Spring feat. Zoya Naturels.

Nude toned nail polish will never go out of style. It works great for Spring and Summer but finding the perfect polish that works for your skin tone and the perfect outfit to wear it with can be a bit tricky.  Zoya's Naturel Collection is a compilation of the perfect choice of nudes and natural colored nail polish for everyone.  When choosing a nude polish look at how it pairs with your cuticles. Does it make your cuticles look redder than usual or does it make them look too dark? If you're Fair Skinned choose a polish that has a white or lighter undertone that will help to brighten up your skin like the gorgeous nude Zoya Chantal.   #483488635 / gettyimages.com   Olive Skinned Beauties should choose a polish with Peach undertones like the Zoya Naturel Polish in Taylor.   #481395961 / gettyimages.com For all of my Brown and…
My new hair: I’m Officially a Blonde Bombshell!

My new hair: I’m Officially a Blonde Bombshell!

After months of talking about it I finally did it. I went Blonde, and what a glorious thing it is!!  If you follow me on all my social media outlets (as you should be doing), you would know that I've been dying (no pun intended) to go blonde for months now. I've seen blonde hair on some of my favorite celebs such as Nene Leakes (yes I love myself some Nene), Chrisette Michele, Keri Hilson, Mary J Blige, and Amber Rose, but I was always too scared to take the plunge. 7486

SheaMoisture Cosmetics Wet/Dry Eyeshadows Review

Okay Okay, I know I've been drowning you guys in SheaMoisture Cosmetics lately but hey I love the brand and it's my goal to make you a lover of them also! Last week I shared with you the SheaMoisture Sheer Foundation and Concealer to complete the entire look I'm bringing the good news that is their Wet/Dry Eyeshadows. There are ten colors in the collection and today I have seven to share with you. Unlike other single eyeshadows the  SheaMoisture Cosmetics Wet/Dry Eyeshadows come in individual pans instead of a compact. While some may see this as a negative there is always a silver lining and that silver lining is the fact that they are priced at $4.99! Yep, $4.99 f0r .10oz of intensely pigmented eyeshadow. A Mac Cosmetics pan eyeshadow will run you $10 for only 0.05oz so you can see you're getting a great deal here. Each color goes…
My Newest Handbag Obessesion: The Cambridge Satchel

My Newest Handbag Obessesion: The Cambridge Satchel

Ive absolutely fallen in love with the Cambridge Satchel. I'm not sure why it never caught my eye before but after seeing one on sale at Shopbop.com and doing more research on the brand I just knew I had to pull the trigger. I purchased this bag during the friends and family sale and was able to save and add'l 25% off making it a cool $113 which is over $100 off the normal retail price! Cambridge Satchels com in 3 sizes 11", 13" and 15". My bag is the 15", on first receipt I thought it was a bit large, but after a while I realized it was going to be the perfect modern messenger bag.  I can fit everything I need for work  and after hours in the bag. It's also perfect for traveling. At some request I filmed a short video to show you everything that…
New SheaMoisture SuperFruit Complex Firms, Smooths, and helps you say Goodbye to Cellulite

New SheaMoisture SuperFruit Complex Firms, Smooths, and helps you say Goodbye to Cellulite

SheaMoisture has taken over my life. I absolutely love love love their products so today I'm sharing with you my love for their new Superfruit Complex Bath and Body line. The SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex Bath and Body line is said to Contour, Firm and Smooth your skin. As soon as I read the label all I could think was "Bye Bye Cellulite". I've not been in the gym at all even though I was on a 100 day journey ( I seriously have no focus) so a  product that could make it look like I wasn't carrying the pockets of fat was right up my alley. SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex Collection contains a proprietary blend of certified organic Shea Butter; Mango Butter (a rich emollient that intensely moisturizes and rejuvenates for soft, supple skin); Green Coffee Bean Extract (helps nourish, contour and smooth dimpled, uneven skin); and antioxidant-rich complex of Raspberry…
SheaMoisture Cosmetics Foundation and Concealer Review. Plus See Them in Action!

SheaMoisture Cosmetics Foundation and Concealer Review. Plus See Them in Action!

I finally got my hands on the new SheaMoisture Cosmetic line! After seeing all the picture on Instagram which had us practically salivating I could not wait to try them out.  After failing at every attempt to find them at my local Target stores SheaMoisture kindly sent over a couple of products for me to try.  Currently there aren't many lines exclusively for Women of Color that are sold at places like Target or our local drug stores. The first ones that come to mind are Iman and Black Opal, but SheaMoisture is the only line that deals in Hair Care, Bath and Body and now Cosmetics! Currently this line is exclusively sold at Target and now is being sold on Target.com From the SheaMoisture Cosmetics line I received a Sheer Foundation, Creme Concealer, Wet and Dry Powder and a Lip Stain. While were mostly concerned with whats inside the…
Nothing to Wear? Check out my Spring Wardrobe Favorites!

Nothing to Wear? Check out my Spring Wardrobe Favorites!

If you're like me every time you look in your closet you have nothing to wear. It's even worse when it's time to change out your wardrobe for the season. Nothing fits, this particular item isn't in style anymore, and we all have that "What was I thinking?" piece of clothing that you throw into a donation bag and hope that nobody knows it came from you. This year for spring I'm doing things a bit different. Instead of going with  whats on trend I'm choosing to follow my heart and pick key pieces that look great on me and flatter my current curvy figure. Lets start with the accessories! Spring is all about color and going bold . This  year for my spring wardrobe  I wanted a few stand out pieces that I could coordinate with several different outfits. I'm so mad I'm late to the Cambridge Satchel band…
Outfit of the Day: Casual Color Pop

Outfit of the Day: Casual Color Pop

This past Saturday I decided to do another outfit of the Day. Since I was driving to Baltimore to pick up my mother who's visiting this weekend I decided to keep it pretty casual and simple but just add a pop of color with my makeup and accessories. I love pairing Coral and a bright summer blue together. Sometimes it can come off a bit much, but if you do it just the colors complement each other so well.  I just received my new Superga Lace Sneakers from Shopbop so I wanted to take them for a test run. With a simple pair of Loft Cuvy Straight leg jeans and a cotton top I was ready to hit the road. Of course, my outfit wasn't complete without my new Celine like handbag that I scooped from Target for only $29.99!  Check out pictures from my outfit below! 7408
