It takes 21 days to break a habit, or so they say. Change is an inevitable part of life, it’s the only thing that’s actually constant in this world. You can’t change what you are, but can change what you do, who you’re influenced by,  and what motivates you. You can alter the words that come out of your mouth simply by thinking about them before you speak. I’ve changed my lifestyle and I’ve adopted a habit of waking up at 4:30am so that I can hit the gym by 5am. I’ve fixed the way I look at food  by reading labels and not partaking in anything processed or things that have large amounts of sugar. I’ve also changed my spending habits, opting to admire whatever it is on the shelf instead of falling victim to the “I need that!” voice that always rears it’s ugly head. What have you

This is what you need to be stalking while walking up and down the beauty aisles at your local drug stores! The newest release from Milani Cosmetics are the POWER Lip and boy do these babies live up to their name! The Power Lips are .09 oz of combination lipgloss and stain. They are highly pigmented, moisturizing and long lasting. I wish, wish wish wish they came in a large size like the TARTE Maracuja lip glosses because I know for sure I will be using these until there isn’t a drop left.

When the clock struck twelve midnight signaling the arrival of 2014 I was in my bed asleep. I’d just lost my grandmother  the day before and I was heart broken that I’d be starting a new year without her. While 2013 was a great year, I mean we bought a house and became first time home owners, I passed my Phd qualifier and my blog is headed in a great direction as far as content and growth, I knew something was missing, and it was more than just my grandmother. Losing her made me realize that  I wasn’t living my life to the best of my ability. It caused me to look in the mirror and really analyze the weak areas in my life.    “The important thing about a problem is not the solution but the strength we gain in finding a solution” -Author Unknown The first area where

I have been itching for some added color to my hair. First I was all “I’m gonna save up and have it professionally done”. Then, after doing my budget and realizing if I wanted to live a debt free life I was not going to be able to afford such a splurge I decided to do it on my own. I just skipped on over to my local Sally’s and purchased two tubes of the AgeBeautiful hair color in 3V which is a Dark Brown Plum for $5.99/tube. The swatch at the store appeared to be a dark brown with bold purple highlights. This is how the color is supposed to look on someone who has my type of hair.   I was super excited to see if I could recreate this color. I mean it had everything I wanted. I loved the bold fuchsia highlights and the rich dark

This is a sponsored post from Coupons.com. While I’m being compensated for this post the love affair I have with Dermablend Professionals is real…   Beauty products come a dime a dozen. Usually when you find the right one and fall in love with it the company discontinues it or somehow changes the formula, you know, to “make it better”. Usually better for me means adding an ingredient that no longer has the stamina to stand up to my oily skin or frequent need of use.  Now I can tell ya I had a thang for concealers. You see I have a skin disorder called a mongolian spot that perches on my right eye lid. So I was always on the hunt for the perfect cover up. A concealer that could do both the work of a corrector, to cancel out the blue, and to cover up the darkness. One

I’ve been playing makeup for years. I dabbled as a makeup artist while living in NC, I’ve taken several classes and watched many a video on makeup application. While I’m still a huge makeup hoarder fan I’ve gotten so busy with school and life that I basically just went with the simplest makeup applications. You know foundation, concealer, eyeliner, mascara, blush and a gloss or lipstick. This worked for me and probably took me only about 10-15 minutes. With so much going on in my work and school life I honestly didn’t have time to really glamour myself up. I just wanted to be presentable, not beautiful, not cute but just presentable. Maybe this is what happens when one turns 30 and they’re tired. The sad part of it all is that I accepted it.Last monday I had the opportunity to attend a Make Up For Ever Mastery Course called

I really really really want to color my natural hair. Although I just went natural and I should be focusing on perfecting my regimen I can’t help but stare at pictures of gorgeous naturals with amazing daring hair colors. The photo of Chrisette Michelle above stops me in my tracks. First of all she’s wearing a box hair cut and it’s strategically colored the perfect shades of blonde to fit her face. Match that with stellar brows, glowing skin and a fierce matte red lipstick and you have the perfect look.  I’ve decided that I am going to color my hair, but I’m going to wait until May. This will give me an extra four months to grow my hair like crazy, perfect my regimen and decide on the perfect hair color. In the mean time here are a few Pinterest Natural Hair Insipration’s that I’ve stumbled upon

Milani Cosmetics Spring 2014 Lip Intense Liquid Colorin shades Violet Addiction, Fiery Coral and Pink Rave

Milani Cosmetics Lip Intense Liquid Color is seriously like…really I have no words to actually describe what it’s like because the name says it all. It’s an intense rich vibrant mesh of gloss and lipstick. I guess I could kind of liken it to a a creamy lip tar. The colors are bold and bright, I have three of the four to share with you today but I’m definitely going to add the red to my collection. If you’ think you’ve seen a product like this before you’re right. These products are very reminiscent of the Milani Haute Flash Lip Glosses that were discontinued a couple of years ago.The only difference is that these have absolutely no shimmer. I really loved the intensity of those lipglosses. Now with a new smaller chic bullet package I’m happy to see them making a comeback Price: $6.49 Availability: Wherever Milani Products are

Five Things I learned from Blogging

1. Pick a Lane!: People blog for different reasons. Sometimes it’s just to write as an escape, others do it as a hobby ,and very few actually do it to make a living. No matter why you decide to start blogging I’ve learned the most important thing is  to pick a lane and stay in it. Don’t let the success of another blogger determine what it is you really want to blog about. If you’re passionate about cooking than start a food blog, love makeup start a beauty blog. If you live and breath fashion then start a Fashion blog. Whichever one you choose remember that it’s like driving a car, only go as fast as you feel comfortable going. Keeping up with the Jones’s of blogging will cause you to burn out and go broke very quick.  2. Not Everyone is Here for you: Starting a blog does not guarantee readers.

This is my second time transitioning and will be my third big chop. Wow, my third big chop… when I think about how long my hair would’ve been if I never big chopped the first time… Actually let me not. I BC’d the second time because my hair was consuming my life. The literal “wash DAY”, the fairy knots and the constant product junkism got the best of me.  About 2 months before my wedding I just chopped it all off. My husband was surprised, I was liberated and  I loved my cut cropped cut. I’m BC’ing a third time because I went through that phase… you know the phase where you’re tired of your hair and you just want something new. I decided to go with a Keratin Treatment. It was great, my hair could be straightened easily and I got to pretend I had a relaxer.. that is
